Game 4: Houston Aces Remain Undefeated Beating El Paso Surf 6-0

By Houston Aces and UWS News, Saturday, June 8, 2019

HOUSTON, TX - Defending UWS champion Houston Aces scored two goals in the first twelve minutes and did not look back in a 6-0 home win over the El Paso Surf. Houston (4-0-0) leads the UWS Southwest with two games remaining in the regular season and are favorites to repeat as conference champions.

The Aces will have to lose out to surrender their advantage and don't look like they are in the mood to do so. Lauren Hughes tallied four goals against El Paso (0-2-0) - including strikes in the 7th and 12th minutes - and now leads the team in goals scored (7). Houston went into halftime with a 3-0 lead on Tatiana Ariza's fifth goal of the season in the 37th minute. Paige Hayward put the hosts up 4-0 in the 65th minute on an assist from Hughes. The former Rice University star scored the final two goals of the match in the 75th and 77th minutes. Surf goalkeeper Jennifer Solis made nine saves for the visitors while Alexis Espino and Gabriela Lopez shared the shutout (one save).
